WHAT IS THE NAIOP FORUM ANYWAY?

You may have heard about the NAIOP forum in passing, or at your last dinner conversation, and wondered what exactly is the NAIOP National Forum (the “Forum”)? I would love to tell you!

The Forum is another way that NAIOP adds value to your membership. I have been a member for over two years now and I have discovered valuable information from our industry by attending biannual Forum meetings. I am a member in the Real Estate Trends 1 Forum and have developed close relationships with my Forum members over the past several years. I know that I can call on any one of the members with questions related to my business and have a confidential resource to discuss my ideas. Read more

There are as many design concepts and visions in space planning as there are designers but let’s face it, what we all really want in this profession is to close the deal!

The faster the overall team can agree on a design layout that works, the sooner that deal can happen. This applies to ground-up projects as well as tenant improvements in all market areas.

Street Teens is one of the many organizations that NAIOP Southern Nevada supports.  Our members have actively been involved with Street Teens over the past 6-7 years, specifically in collecting financial donations and supplies as well as providing time in helping with projects at the local Street Teens office and shelter.  During the May 2016 breakfast meeting, NAIOP members donated over $1200 as well as much needed supplies for the teens. The 24th Annual NAIOP Golf Tournament was held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort.  Over 140 NAIOP members and their guests enjoyed a day of golfing, entertainment, and networking despite the overcast, cool, and windy day.  The day started with breakfast and a sponsored Bloody Mary Bar and ended with lunch and an awards reception in the clubhouse overlooking the golf course.  Our members donated amazing raffle prizes along with a $1500 prize package to help raise a whopping $36,000 to benefit CREPAC, our Political Action Committee.  Thank you to our sponsors, the committee, and the volunteers who made the event a huge success. We look forward to next year!  Click here to check out the photos from the event.

To create a more diverse economic engine that Governor Sandoval calls the, ‘New Nevada Economy,’ the small and medium sized businesses in Southern Nevada are critical partners in the development of innovative projects and urban infrastructure that are designed to create a more livable, healthy environment that will also be more financially resilient over the long term. As members of the development community we must support these businesses in finding ways to design, construct, and operate their facilities as efficiently as possible so that they make solid business and economic sense. If a project is profitable and does right by the community and the environment, that is what constitutes a true ‘win-win-win’ because it hits on all the aspects of the, ‘triple bottom line’ of people, profit and planet. Telecom Networks & High Tech Commercial Buildings, First in a Series

Why better building network infrastructure adds value to your business…

LEED Certified Buildings win awards for how little energy dollars they require, but those buildings may:

1.    cost ten times more for the same telecommunications bandwidth and infrastructure,
2.    not have the highest network reliability that is possible,
3.    be difficult to service,
4.    not provide the highest functionality available or that which is needed by a modern organization wanting to leverage all of the telecommunication, mobility and connectivity tools available.

A vigorous class discussion between contractors, developers, attorneys and others at a recent NAIOP Education event highlights one of the best parts of NAIOP Southern Nevada! Dear Members,

It has been a whirlwind of a year so far and the feeling of buoyancy amongst our industry is palpable. Everyone I talk to says that they are as busy as they have ever been. I’m glad to hear that so many of our members are experiencing success after a long run of a down market.

On that note, NAIOP has achieved several successes already this year. We had a very successful and well attended Forecast event in January. We had a great group of speakers and the event helped us to continue to foster our relationship with UNLV and the Lied Institute. Read more

On Saturday March 5, 2016 many NAIOP Southern Nevada members and member companies participated in a head shaving, fund raising event at McMullan’s Irish Pub for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long, healthy lives. The money is still being counted from Saturday’s event, but the total raised at this one event on one day in Las Vegas was over $500,000. In the 10 years that our group of developers, architects, and their associated employees, friends and neighbors have been involved, this one event has raised over $5 million for children’s cancer research!
